Teaching Philosophy
Whether I am working with beginning or advanced students, my main focus is to help them become well-rounded musicians. Too often I encounter students who can play advanced music by memory, but cannot sight-read; or on the other hand, many have well developed sight-reading skills, but poor technique and memorization. I believe in building every aspect of technique and musicianship so that my students are as evenly balanced as possible and have the confidence in performance of solidly educated musicians.
A typical lesson at any level will cover scale study, technique building through études, and work on solo pieces. With beginning and intermediate students I use the Suzuki violin curriculum, advanced students will study using a tailor made curriculum that I will personally curate based on their individual strengths and weaknesses. In addition, there are often assignments of supplemental exercises for sight-reading, ear and rhythmic training or solo work.
What I provide:
- serious violin performance training
- weekly lesson reservations
- easy monthly scheduling
- annual performance class
